ACJ Family
Within the ACJ family, there are two lay groups: ACJ Associates and Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament. Requests from women and men around the world attest to a movement of the Holy Spirit inspired by Vatican Council II. In the spirit of their foundress, the Handmaids want to share all that they have, and value the gifts shared with them from their lay friends, the Associates.
ACJ Associates
ACJ Associates find in the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus an interracial, multicultural community whose direction corresponds to their own striving for reparation/reconciliation, so needed in today's world. They look to the Handmaids for a spirituality of inclusive, compassionate love which has the power to address the world's indifference to God and hunger for meaning.
The ACJ Associates are an extension of the Handmaid spirit into the broader community of the Church and world. In a spirit of hope, this relationship promotes an integral understanding and practice of shared responsibility, human interdependence, dynamic creativity, and people empowerment.

Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament
The Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament was begun in Madrid, Spain in 1879, and was formally recognized by his Holiness Pope Pius XI in 1937 as an official Association of the Universal church. The Association has branches throughout the world, including ones in Haverford and Wyncote, Pennsylvania. As an Adorer, one strives towards the imitation of Jesus Christ who loves us to an extreme in the Eucharist. Adorers are drawn to prayer before Christ in order to deepen their awareness and acceptance of Jesus as Lord, bringing the world before Him. Above all else, an Adorer endeavors to "live life as one prays it and to pray life as one lives it."
Because of their close connection with Handmaids, Adorers strive to keep alive Saint Raphaela Mary's preference for the poor, both locally and globally.
