Our Ministries
An Overview
Handmaids work tirelessly in the United States and around the world to assist people and communities who are poor, uneducated, marginalized, spiritually hungry, and searching for God. The sisters continually strive to increase their sense of being One Body by building cross-cultural, multi-ethnic communities wherever they are in the world. Currently, United States Province Handmaids oversee seven ministries across the United States and one in Central America.
In the United States, the Handmaids attempt to express His concerns in our Wyncote, PA school; in the Philadelphia residence; in Haverford, PA Retreat Center; at "Oasis Católico" in Athens, GA; in the Atlanta, GA community; and in the Miami, FL residence. Handmaids are in many other parts of the world...twenty-six nations and counting!
Today, as in the first days of our congregation, Handmaids strive to be true servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus by being agents of Reconciliation. By His sacrifice, Jesus repaired the broken relationship between God and humankind. By their prayer and work, the sacrifice of their lives, Handmaids cooperate with Jesus and do all they can to bring healing to a world in need.
- As therapists, counselors, and educators, we work to bring healing to broken relationships between individuals.
- As a diverse international congregation, we live among those we serve and work to bring healing to broken relationships across economic classes, races, languages, and cultures.
- As spiritual directors, catechists, and retreat directors, and in many other roles, we help to repair the broken relationships between God and God's children.
